ZEISS Milvus 1.4/35 mm

Perfection at wide angle
The perfectionist for all occasions. With this fast 35 millimeter focal length, the world is open to you. From cropped portraits in their surroundings to high-precision depictions of architecture or detailed landscapes - everything is possible.

In portraiture, architectural photography or landscape photography, this lens with its newly developed optical design offers convincing perfection. Longitudinal and lateral color aberrations have been almost completely eliminated. Thanks to the sophisticated ZEISS Distagon with 14 lenses in 11 groups, outstanding imaging performance can be achieved even at open aperture - even across the entire field of view.

Outstanding image results even in difficult lighting situations
All lenses are coated with ZEISS T anti-reflective coating. Optimized stray light reduction is achieved through a combination of finely tuned measures. In addition to the ZEISS T coating, all lens edges are painstakingly finished by hand with a special deep black coating. Light traps in mechanical components and specially calculated surfaces are integrated to prevent reflections from occurring in the first place. Each focal length is characterized by an individual optical design with partial use of special types of glass with anomalous partial dispersion. This extremely minimizes the tendency for colour fringing at high-contrast subject edges.

Future-proof for high-resolution camera systems
Due to their high imaging performance, ZEISS Milvus Lens are specially designed to meet the requirements of current and future high-performance digital cameras. High-contrast images are possible even with increasing dynamic ranges of the sensors (HDR) due to the low stray light level in the Lens. The minimization of aberrations such as coma, astigmatism and spherical aberrations enables a consistently high resolution across the entire image field. The optics have the potential to get the best out of even high-resolution systems. No matter what the future holds - with the Milvus lenses from ZEISS, you are well equipped.

Creative photography and videography through precise, manual focusing
Operating a lens manually means controlling the image result gently and precisely from your fingertips and thus consciously shaping it. Ergonomics is everything. The ZEISS Milvus Lens impresses with a large rotation angle that enables perfect focusing to the point. The high-quality focusing mechanism is smooth-running and has no play: this supports creative play with the focal plane of fast fixed focal lengths. Changes are immediately visible in the viewfinder or display. The engraving in meters and feet as well as the depth of field scale offer additional help when focusing manually. The stepless and noiseless aperture adjustment (de-click function with ZF.2 mount), in addition to the long focus travel for these photo lenses, provides the best conditions for videography.

Durable product with protection against environmental influences
Optimized ergonomics ensure the best handling and thus enable fatigue-free photography and reduce the risk of camera shake. The all-metal housing turns every grip into a tactile experience. The dynamic, precise housing design sets new standards in the world of photographic lenses. However, the ZEISS Milvus Lens not only impresses with its outstanding look and feel, but also with its inner values. Special seals to protect against dust and splash water expand the creative possibilities in various shooting areas - so reliable function is guaranteed even under difficult conditions.

Stable imaging performance over the entire focusing range
Modern camera systems with high-resolution digital image sensors demand more and more performance from lenses. The floating elements design enables consistently high imaging performance in the focal plane - from the closest focusing distance to infinity. This is achieved by changing the axial distance between individual lenses or lens groups. The adjustment of the lens distance is linked to the distance setting so that the correct correction is always achieved. The mechanical structure of the ZEISS Milvus Lens is very complex and the processing must be particularly precise - both of which are ZEISS' specialties.

Lens design
Originally developed for SLR cameras, where a long focal length is still required for short focal lengths due to the mirror box (the distance between the rear lens and the film plane must be significantly greater than the focal length), the Distagon lenses (retrofocus design) also show their strengths to the full with mirrorless system cameras due to their optimized optical path. Even with longer focal lengths, the high-performance Distagon optical design can achieve uniformly good correction right into the corners of the image and very low field curvature even at very high initial apertures.
