ZEISS T* coating reduces ghosting and light reflections.
Responsiveness thanks to Exmor RS CMOS Sensor
The newly developed multi-layer CMOS image sensor (type 1 inch) with 20.1 megapixels and DRAM chip enables shooting in Super Slow Motion (slow motion) at up to 960 frames per second as well as especially fast shutter times of up to 1/32000 sec. with anti-distortion shutter (anti-distortion function) that cannot be perceived by the human eye. Apart from that, phase-detection autofocus with 315-point focal plane ensures exceptional AF precision and autofocus performance.
BIONZ X for superb details and textures
As the processor responsible for converting light captured by an image sensor into digital images, the RX100 V's BIONZ X is as important as its Lens or sensor. With this camera, the high-speed BIONZ X processor makes it possible to capture photos and video with even more realistic, natural details, as well as richer color gradations and lower image noise.
Wide coverage with 315 autofocus points
With the world's most autofocus points (315) for phase detection in the focal plane, approximately 65% of the entire image area of the newly developed image sensor can be covered. As a result, AF coverage is wide and dense enough to quickly capture subjects, such as especially small or fast-moving objects that are otherwise difficult to focus on, throughout the entire image area.
Autofocus ready in just 0.05 seconds
The fast hybrid autofocus system, consisting of responsive phase-detection AF and incredibly precise contrast-detection AF, now also included for the first time in the RX100 series cameras, responds in just 0.05 seconds to focus on and capture subjects at the moments that matter most to you.
Smoother continuous shooting at up to 24 frames per second
The RX100 V enables high-speed continuous shooting at more than 20 megapixels and up to 24 frames per second with AF/AE tracking. In addition, blackouts on the electronic viewfinder and LCD are reduced, making it easier to watch moving subjects and capture once-in-a-lifetime moments.
Silent shooting for special situations
You can mute the camera's shutter sound by making the following settings on your camera: Shutter Type: Electronic and Audio: Off. This allows you to capture quiet scenes or noise-sensitive subjects even when taking continuous shots.
AF-A mode automatically switches focus modes
In AF-A mode, the camera automatically switches between AF-S mode (single-frame autofocus: locks focus while the shutter button is pressed halfway) and AF-C (permanent autofocus: maintains focus on the subject while the shutter button is pressed halfway), responding to changes such as sudden subject movement or strong light during shooting.
Anti-distortion shutter with a shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 sec.
The anti-distortion shutter with its shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 sec. reduces image distortion caused by rolling shutter effects. Thanks to the extremely fast shutter speed, you can set a wide aperture and capture photos with background blur effects, even in extreme brightness with light levels up to EV 19 .
Brilliant 4K videos
While recording 4K (QFHD resolution: 3840 x 2160) videos with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, the camera collects about 1.7 times more information than is needed for standard 4K video playback. This oversampling ensures images with exceptionally high resolution and fewer moiré effects and image defects.
Fast Hybrid AF for Video Shooting Now Available in RX100 Series
Thanks to the built-in AF sensor with phase detection and focal plane, which ensures precise focusing as well as exceptional focus performance, the fast hybrid AF ensures sharp and brilliant images when shooting high-definition 4K videos .
Photo Capture function creates photos from video footage
Using the Photo Capture function, you can select a moment from a 4K movie playback and save it as a detailed photo file with over 8 megapixels. You can also create a 2-megapixel photo file from an HD video recording in the same way.
Up to double time 960 frames per second Slow Motion
Use the mode dial to select the HFR function to capture fast-moving action in slow motion with great detail. To adapt the recording to the speed of moving subjects, frame rates of 960/1000 frames per second, 480/500 frames per second or 240/250 frames per second (NTSC/PAL) are available. At 240/250 frames per second, image quality is close to Full HD, and HD quality is achieved in Quality Priority mode at 480/500 frames per second. In final release mode, recording starts 4 or 6 seconds before the MOVIE button is pressed, so you can capture all the important moments.
