The Sony Alpha 7R V is not only a 61-megapixel monster, but this camera is also a real winner when it comes to autofocus. Thanks to the AI-based autofocus system, the camera actively supports you in your shots.

The 61 megapixel BSI sensor of the A7rV

The Exmor R CMOS sensor of the Sony Alpha 7 R V offers a great dynamic range and better noise performance than its predecessor. The IBIS image stabilizer built into the system camera offers image stabilization of up to 8 f-stops.

The sensor enables continuous shooting of up to 10 frames per second. When using a fast CFexpress type A card, the buffer memory never runs full and enables the recording of up to 583 compressed RAW series.

New sensor with dust protection system

The sensor filter of the Alpha 7R V is set in motion, causing the dust to be released. The camera also closes the shutter when the lens is changed.

Up to 240 MP images thanks to Pixel Shift Multi Shooting

Users who require an extremely high resolution will not be disappointed with the Alpha 7R V. For example, the A7R V offers to compose up to 16 shots when using the Sony Imaging Edge desktop app, with the software able to detect and correct for camera shake and shift depending on the subject.

ISO performance of the Sony Alpha 7R V

In regular mode, the camera offers an ISO value of 100 - 32,000, but the ISO value can also be extended to 50-102,500.

New standards are set here, especially when it comes to recognizing human subjects: With the help of AI, the camera not only reliably recognizes faces and eyes, but also entire limbs, such as arms and legs. This ensures that people always remain in focus - even when they step out of the frame.

Another special feature: the focus of the Sony Alpha 7 RV (ilce-7rm5) also recognizes the front windows of planes and trains. A dream for every plane and train spotter. But the camera also offers many advantages for cycling enthusiasts and wildlife photographers thanks to AI support.

What subjects can the Sony recognize?

People, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes. These subjects are no problem for the 7 R V and make everyday life easier for every photo enthusiast.

The autofocus of the Sony Alpha 7R V covers a wide sensor area of 76% with a total of 693 points in phase detection. Interesting for videographers: In 16:9 format, the coverage of the focus points on the sensor area is 86%. Precise focus measurements are possible with this system camera at up to -4.0 EV.

Up to 8K video recording with the 7R V

Photographers who also want to use the camera's video functions benefit from an image quality of up to 8K. Thanks to the new effective heat dissipation, 8K / 24fps videos can be recorded for just over 30 minutes without interruption. The Sony Alpha 7R V also offers 10-bit Pro Res RAW output, which can also be output via a full-size HDMI output. The whole thing is rounded off by a 4K video resolution at 60 fps and H.265. As you would expect from Sony, the Alpha 7R V features S-Cinetone™ and S-Log3 with 14+ levels of latitude. The camera also features Breathing Compensation to ensure a uniform viewing angle.

The high-resolution + sharp viewfinder of the Alpha 7 R V

Sony has listened to the criticism and has now installed a high-resolution OLED viewfinder with 9.44 million pixels and a 0.9x viewfinder magnification in this model of the Alpha 7 series, which does justice to the high resolution of the camera. Thanks to its 120fps, it also creates an excellent image display in the shortest possible time.

The camera display of the A7R V can be tilted in a wide variety of directions, making the camera highly flexible and allowing unusual perspectives to be achieved with ease. This display also ensures a perfect view of the display when you are unable to work with the viewfinder.

The 7R V is handy and robust

Sony has opted for further improvements to the feel of the camera body for this camera. This makes the grip more suitable for people with larger hands. The body is perfectly protected against dust and moisture; all buttons and connections on the Sony Alpha 7R V are sealed. The weight of the camera is 724g, which is slightly heavier than the previous model, but is certainly manageable due to the significantly more technology on board.

Connectivity and connections

The Sony Alpha 7R V has two CFexpress type A card slots, which are also compatible with an SDXC card with UHS-II. The Sony is equipped with some exciting connections + functions that will not only please professional studio photographers. The USB-C connection, which transfers up to 10 Gbit/s and also enables remote control, is particularly worth mentioning here. The Sony Alpha 7R V also has a 5GHz WLAN connection, which is suitable for tethering, FTP upload and smartphone transfer.

Was soll man sagen, Top
Originale Akkus sind einfach die besten. Ich habe auch schon einige andere Hersteller versucht, allerdings blähen sie sich nach 2-3 Jahren auf und einmal habe ich eine solche Batterie auch fast nicht mehr aus meiner Kamera bekommen. Das ist ein Bereich, wo sparen nicht empfehlenswert ist, auch, wenn einige Dritthersteller eine höhere Kapazität und demnach eine längere Laufzeit versprechen.

Nur das Original
Nachdem ich jahrelang einen Nachbauakku im Einsatz hatte welcher beim Update der Kamera nicht mehr akzeptiert wurde ohne die lästige Bestätigung der Meldung, musste originaler Ersatz her. Dieser wird erwartungsgemäß ohne Probleme von der Kamera erkannt und hat einfach die bessere Kapazität, obwohl viele nachbauten gleich oder mehr Leistung haben laut Angabe. Mittlerweile habe ich mit dem
Original ein besseres Gefühl und die Kameras in denen man den Akku verwendet sind immerhin relativ hochpreisig. Da geht man ungern Risiken ein: daher für mich nur noch Original!
