Even more inspiration
Discover new photographic expression through unparalleled image quality and processing speed. The new member of the α7R series features even more networking capabilities and improved reliability, essential for professionals' work.

Maximum resolution: full-frame CMOS sensor with 61.0 megapixels
The α7R IV full-frame mirrorless camera features a full-frame CMOS sensor newly developed by Sony with a rear-exposed design and 61.0 megapixels. This provides expressive images that were previously expected only from conventional medium format cameras. Since there is no movement from mechanical mirrors due to the mirrorless design, maximum resolution can be achieved without any negative impact on image quality. The α7R IV offers image quality that exceeds the expectations placed on conventional full-frame cameras, especially in the low to medium sensitivity range. Sony-developed technology ensures remarkably high resolution with low noise and high sensitivity.

Fully exploiting the CMOS sensor's potential through optimized image processor
The BIONZ X high-speed processor has also been further improved, matching the new image sensor in terms of excellence. The result: faithful reproduction of details and significantly less noise. Noise that can occur due to the increased number of pixels is minimized for high image quality. This is especially true for the ISO standard sensitivity range of up to ISO 32,000, and a wide dynamic range of up to 15 steps at low ISO sensitivity (for photos) ensures smoother gradations from shadowy to bright areas. Color reproduction on stills, celebrated in the current α series and retained in the α7R IV, also enables natural reproduction of skin tones on portraits and vivid floral colors.

Outstanding 61.0 MP resolution
The α7R IV's extremely high image resolution of 61.0 megapixels is complemented by other advantages. These include built-in 5-axis optical image stabilization with optimized algorithms for 5.5-step shutter speed15. Another outstanding feature is the electronic shutter for quiet, vibration-free shooting. In addition, the α7R IV has an internal damper that absorbs the effect of shutter movement. This reduces shutter vibration to a minimum. The α7R IV has many features for sharp, high-resolution images.

UXGA OLED Tru-Finder with 5.76 million pixels
This 5.76-million-dot electronic viewfinder is a new feature of the α7R IV and enables high-precision, enormously bright, high-contrast images. Fine details are reproduced at 1.6 times the resolution of the α7R III. In high display quality mode, the effective image sensor of (approx.) 61.0 megapixels reduces moiré effects and image defects, resulting in extremely precise and natural images in the viewfinder. A "high" viewfinder frame rate mode of 120/100 frames per second allows for smoother image sequences, making it easier to track moving images. A fluorine coating makes it easier to remove dirt or fingerprints from the Lens. This makes for more comfortable viewing in adverse weather conditions and better concentration on the shot.

Large, fast, and smooth autofocus
With increased coverage and density of AF points and an improved algorithm for tracking moving images, overall autofocus performance has been enhanced to enable continuous and accurate tracking of complex subject movement and speed changes. The α7R IV is equipped with a fast hybrid autofocus that combines high-speed phase detection with powerful tracking and high-precision autofocus with contrast detection. This makes it suitable even for low-light shooting environments such as EV-3. AF phase detection with 567 AF points and AF contrast detection with 425 AF points provide wider image area coverage20 of 99.7% (height) and 74.0% (width). What's more, this remarkable AF system proves as responsive as the α7R III when processing large amounts of data and even in low-light shooting environments, thanks to the ultra-high-resolution CMOS sensor.

14-bit RAW output for natural gradations
The α7R IV supports compressed and uncompressed 14-bit RAW output. This provides smoother, more natural gradations that contribute to overall better image quality. With even higher 16-bit processing in the image processor, the front-end LSI and optimized BIONZ X image processor enable 14-bit RAW outputs, even in silent mode or continuous shooting mode.

Up to 68 frames in continuous shooting mode
Professional photographers depend on uninterrupted shooting. With 1.5 times more buffer memory, high system speed, and support for UHS-II, the α7R IV can shoot up to approximately 68 frames in a burst at up to 10 frames per second. About three times more photos can be taken in APS-C shooting mode than in full-frame shooting mode. Accessing the Fn menu/menu screen, changing settings, and viewing shots is possible during data processing. During playback, the display shows the number of images that can still be captured.

Anti-flicker system
Flicker caused by fluorescent and other artificial light is automatically detected and the shutter is timed to minimize the flicker effect on photos. This suppresses exposure and color inconsistencies in continuous shooting, as well as exposure and color anomalies that occur at the top and bottom of images taken at fast shutter speeds, and lets you shoot indoors much more easily.

Exceptionally fast high-speed continuous shooting at 10 frames per second with AF/AE tracking
Despite the high resolution of 61.0 MP12, a sophisticated algorithm enables efficient processing for high-speed continuous shooting at up to 10 frames per second21 and AF/AE tracking via mechanical shutter control. Continuous shooting in Live View mode at up to 8 frames per second is also possible. Subjects in fast motion are thereby captured with minimal display delay. After cropping a full-frame image to APS-C format or selecting APS-C shooting mode, you can still get high-resolution images at 26.2 megapixels. This is great news for wildlife photographers who need to use the crop function for images of fast-moving birds or other animals shot from a distance.

More shots at profile length
Like the α7R III, the α7R IV uses the NP-FZ100 high-capacity battery. Due to a more energy-efficient circuit design, the α7R IV rivals the α7R III in terms of longevity despite a higher resolution image sensor and electronic viewfinder. An optional vertical grip (VG-C4EM) can accommodate two batteries. An optional multi-battery adapter set (NPA-MQZ1K) for up to four batteries provides even longer operating time. In addition to these optional accessories, multi/micro USB and USB Type-C connectors for external batteries enable additional power to the camera for even longer shooting time.

Optimized AF with real-time eye detection (human eye) for more beautiful portraits
Based on the latest developments in artificial intelligence, AF with real-time eye detection works together with real-time tracking technology. The result: highly efficient portrait photography. This state-of-the-art system detects and processes face and eye data in real time and stays focused on the subject's eye with unprecedented precision. When "Face Priority in AF Mode" is on, you can activate AF with Eye Detection (AF-C-/AF-S-/AF-A mode) not only via a custom button assignment, but also by holding the shutter button halfway down or pressing the AF-ON button. Now you can use this feature to select a specific eye - left or right - in advance or during shooting. AF with real-time eye detection supports both video recording and still images.

Two media slots, each supporting UHS-II
The α7R IV has two media slots for SD cards. Both slot 1 and slot 2 are now compatible with UHS-I and UHS-II for fast processing of large amounts of data. Use two cards simultaneously to store shots or relay shots, separate RAW from JPEG data or photos from videos, or copy data from one card to the other. A locking slider prevents accidental opening of the memory card cover.

Continuous focus of tracked subjects with real-time tracking
This technology automatically maintains precise focus when the shutter button is pressed halfway. You can rely on the α7R IV: Simply select the subject you want and focus on your composition. Subject tracking is taken care of by the camera. A newly developed real-time tracking algorithm processes spatial information based on color, pattern (brightness), and subject distance (depth) data. The AI technology recognizes the subject's face and eyes in real time. Available for both stills and movies.

Phase Detection AF supports A-mount lenses
AF phase detection works even when an A-mount lens is attached to the α7R IV using an LA-EA3 lens adapter. The 567-point AF system for phase detection provides wide coverage, fast response times, and extremely powerful tracking, even when an A-mount lens is attached.

AF with Real-Time Eye Detection for Animals reliably detects wild and domestic animals
The advanced AI-based subject detection of Lens AF with Real-Time Eye Detection uses a new algorithm for tracking animals. This allows the eye of an animal to be detected and tracked quickly, accurately and automatically. This new feature will greatly increase your success rate when shooting animals in the wild or at home. These are situations where precise focusing has been a challenge until now. All AF-C, AF-S and AF-A type focus modes are supported.

Composition of 16 differently resolved images with Pixel Shift Multi Shooting function
The Pixel Shift Multi Shooting function opens up a whole new dimension of resolution. In addition to the previously available composition of four images, the α7R IV now supports composition of 16 differently resolved images. In this revised function, which is based on improved image stabilization, the sensor is moved alternately four times in half-pixel increments and four times in one-pixel increments. Thus, a total of 16 differently resolved images are captured. These are assembled by the PC so that a single high-precision image with about 240.8 million pixels (19,008 x 12,672) is created from original data with the equivalent of about 963.2 million pixels. In this way, stunning resolution is achieved on a single image. Photos of architecture and art are characterized by their lifelike details, textures, colors, moods, and backdrops, as well as their 3D-like realism. Not only can shading be captured with minimal moiré effects or color artifacts, but the atmosphere and surroundings can be faithfully reproduced with unprecedented, breathtaking precision.

Versatile flash compatibility
The α7R IV is equipped with a sync terminal so that external flash units and cables with standard sync terminals can also be conveniently connected for synchronization with studio flash units and the like. Devices can be conveniently connected. The shutter release delay when using flash units is minimized, enabling smooth and fast shooting with flash. Continuous shooting mode with flash and up to 10 frames per second provides advanced shooting options. If you have connected a wireless external flash, more versatile options are available thanks to slow sync and sync to second curtain

Wireless PC remote control
When using the α7R IV alone, you can now use wireless PC remote control functions via Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz/5 GHz selectable) to remotely control camera settings or send captured images to the camera while shooting. This wireless setting provides maximum freedom for indoor and outdoor shooting. In addition, the α7R IV also supports remote PC control functions via a USB 3.2 Gen 1 compatible USB Type-C port. This enables the transfer of image data at the time of shooting in tethering priority mode. Even large RAW images can be easily transferred and instantly reviewed on the PC.

Various touch functions for greater freedom
Touch focus lets you simply touch the display to select a desired subject near the edges of the frame. Touch pad focus point control gives you the ability to move the focus area to any point with a simple finger gesture while using the viewfinder. Touch tracking makes subject tracking easier in stills and movies. Tapping twice enlarges the view. In the α7R IV, the touchpad also responds about 1.5 times faster than in the α7R III.

Redesigned controls for safe and convenient operation
A new multi-select button lets you move the focus point quickly and intuitively so you don't miss any moving images. In response to requests from professional users, the surface texture has been modified to provide better button response for easier and more comfortable operation. In addition, the AF-ON button has been enlarged and optimized for better accessibility and adjusted for click feel and placement. A new lock button locks or unlocks the exposure compensation dial at the touch of a button and, when in the locked position, prevents it from being accidentally adjusted. These improvements help you focus on the shutter release to instantly capture special moments.

Reliable stability and weather resistance in demanding situations
The α7R IV features further improved body stability. A lightweight but very robust magnesium alloy has been used for the covers and internal frame. This makes the camera extremely robust yet lightweight. In response to the opinions of professionals, the battery and terminal covers, as well as all body joints, have been provided with an improved seal. For better moisture protection, the hinge on the media compartment cover has been replaced with a double-sealed sliding mechanism. Possible entry paths for dust and moisture were re-examined. Padding for the lens adapter has also been added to ensure reliable operation even in demanding environments.

Faster hybrid autofocus and more precision for smoother, more stable results in movie shooting
Faster, more precise hybrid autofocus provides smoother, more stable AF results in movie shooting. This significantly reduces the need for focusing when using a camera mount or shooting video without assistance. A new touch tracking function is also available for movie shooting. This allows you to simply touch the desired subject on the display to start tracking. Pressing the shutter button halfway (or pressing the AF-ON button) immediately activates AF-S operation. This simplifies filming in situations with pressure to succeed, such as weddings and documentaries.

For lifelike, high-resolution 4K movies
For high-resolution, detailed 4K movies with minimal moiré effects and image defects, Super 35mm mode compresses approximately 2.4 times more data than is required for 4K movies (QFHD: 3840 x 2160). Optimized processing allows 4K movies to be recorded with the α7R IV with improved reproduction of skin tones and smoother gradations. In addition to S-Log3 and S-Log2 gamma curves, the α7R IV impresses with the Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) image profile for an HDR direct workflow. This supports a wide range of requirements for HDR video production. The α7R IV offers the XAVC S recording format for 4K and enables high image quality with high bit rates of up to 100 Mbit/s.
[1] High flexibility for targeted customization of images (color corrections required) [2] High-quality recording without delay (color corrections not required)

Advanced digital audio recording with the new MI Shoe
A digital audio interface has been added to the multi-interface accessory shoe (MI Shoe). Combining it with the new ECM-B1M shotgun microphone or the new XLR-K3M adapter kit for XLR allows clear audio recording with minimal quality degradation by transmitting the digital audio signal to the camera. The wireless, battery-free design adds even more flexibility when shooting video with the α system.

Versatile movie recording features
With the α7R IV, you now have the ability to change the names of XAVC S video files. For example, when shooting with multiple cameras, you can set a prefix in advance for easy identification. Interval recording is also available for producing time-lapse movies. There are also numerous features available for professional filmmakers to work with. These include uncompressed HDMI output, time code and stamp (TC/UB), shot control, marker display/template setting, zebra function, slow motion and fast motion, simultaneous proxy movie recording, creating a still image from a video, and Gamma Display Assist.

Support for 4:3 and 1:1 aspect ratios
In addition to the conventional 3:2 and 16:9 aspect ratios, the α7R IV now supports 4:3 and 1:1. These new aspect ratios provide professional users with more diverse types of delivery data for a wider range of media.

Improved camera settings storage
Significantly more camera settings can now be stored on the memory card. The saved settings are readable by other cameras of the same model. The Save and Load Settings function also allows up to ten sets of camera settings to be stored on a memory card. It is also possible to import camera settings into the Imaging Edge Mobile App. Imported settings can be exported to other cameras of the same model.

Quickly customizable menu interface
The personal menu function allows you to save up to 30 frequently used functions that can be recalled instantly when needed. You can also configure a custom menu that is ideal for your shooting needs. In addition to the custom menu, a descriptive control clarifies the meaning of functions and provides intuitive operation. You can access a help screen by pressing the Delete key when using the menu screen.

Customization for maximum efficiency
The My Dial feature allows three sets of menu options to be assigned to the rear or front control dial and the command dial. Frequently used functions assigned to the dials are immediately available when you press and hold a custom key. 113 functions can be assigned to custom keys. Independent sets of functions can be assigned for photos, movies, and playback.

Rating function and image jump setting for efficient sorting on the spot
Ratings from 1 to 5 stars can be assigned for photo shots. These are retained even when you import the images into the Imaging Edge desktop application (viewer) running on a PC. This rating function or a function to protect photos against accidental deletion can be assigned to a button for individual assignment (C3 for delete protection by default). You can activate rating or protection functions when viewing images via the display. Continuous images can be viewed, protected or deleted while still on location or on the move. With the Image Jump setting, which allows you to skip 10/100 photos at a time, and the Continuous Shooting Group Display, you have convenient functions for quick and efficient image review.

Smart collaboration with mobile devices and accessories
Even when the camera is turned off, photo and video files stored on an SD memory card inserted in the camera can be transferred via Wi-Fi if you have set this up in advance. Using the Imaging Edge Mobile app on your mobile device paired with the camera, you can select the images you want to transfer.

FTP transfer function, now with support for background data transfer
This camera allows you to select images you have taken and transfer the data via Wi-Fi (wireless LAN) to the external FTP server you want. For higher security, FTPS (File Transfer Protocol over SSL/TLS) is supported. In this way, SSL or TLS data encryption is possible for maximum security. With FTP file transfer now supported in the background, image files can be transferred while shooting continues. Up to nine FTP servers can be specified in the camera in advance. These powerful features enable even more efficient, professional operation. Take advantage of easier image selection and FTP transfer via the Transfer + Tagging add-on to send files using a mobile device. Wi-Fi at 5 GHz is available for a high-speed connection.

Product description for Sony SEL 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Sony FE mount

Versatile, robust and fast! With the Sony SEL 24-70mm f/2.8 GM you gain a reliable companion for almost all areas of application. From landscape photography, to travel photography, to portrait photography - with this standard zoom you will always achieve strong results even in difficult lighting conditions!

Exceptional image quality of the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM

The Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM is equipped with three aspherical elements, one of which is an extremely precise XA (extreme aspherical) element, as well as an ED glass element. Chromatic aberrations are thus reduced to a minimum to ensure excellent image quality throughout the zoom and aperture range. Photos are sharp and contrasty from the center of the image to the edges.

Reliable autofocus

Thanks to the Direct Drive SSM, autofocus is fast, quiet and absolutely precise, whether shooting stills or video.

Beautiful, soft bokeh of the SEL2470GM

The aperture of the SEL2470GM is composed of nine blades. It is not dependent on the zoom range, so it delivers great results even in low-light conditions. The bokeh is natural and circular throughout.

Outstanding workmanship

At just under 14cm in length and 886g in weight, the Sony SEL 24-70mm f/2.8 GM tends to be of the more bulky variety. However, this is backed up by the absolutely top-notch metal build quality, which contributes to the robustness and longevity of the standard zoom.

Other features of this standard zoom

In addition to dust and splash protection, the standard zoom is equipped with an AF-MF switch, a focus hold button, and a zoom lock switch. The zoom ring as well as the focus ring are both equipped with a grippy, ribbed rubber coating.
