Outstanding AF performance for aesthetic shots
Thanks to Sony's innovative technologies, the fast and precise autofocus lets you capture fleeting moments down to the smallest detail. The 425 AF phase detection points combine with AF Contrast Detection to deliver the impressive speed of 0.02 sec12. High-density AF tracking technology is capable of tracking even aimlessly moving subjects.

Continuously focus on subjects with real-time tracking
When tracking a fast-moving subject, the camera's motion tracker uses an enhanced subject detection algorithm (AI)13 and takes into account color, pattern (brightness), subject distance (depth), and face or Eye information to detect the subject and maintain focus on it.

Improved AF with Real-time Eye Detection for Portrait Shooting
Real-time Eye Detection AF detects your subject's eyes and automatically focuses on them when you half-press the shutter button. You can even select whether to focus on the left or right eye. When AF-C is engaged, focus is maintained throughout - even when part of the face is obscured, the subject is backlit, or looking down.

Precise autofocus in low light
The camera's improved AF algorithm means autofocus is extremely precise even in low light. A high AF sensitivity means that AF-S autofocus can work down to EV -218.

Real-time eye detection AF for animals
Real-time eye detection AF technology has been adapted to detect animal eyes14. When this feature is enabled, animal eyes are detected and tracked quickly, accurately, and automatically for beautiful animal portraits and wildlife shots.

High-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking
Capture everything with continuous shooting at up to 11 frames per second15. Even when using the silent shutter16 or Live View mode, up to 8 frames per second15 are possible. Display lag has been reduced to a minimum, and you can take up to 116 JPEG (standard)17 shots in each burst. There is also the option of group display in playback mode.

Focus magnification for more precise focus adjustment in MF and AF modes
When the focus needs to be especially precise, for example when shooting macro, you can display the area you want to focus magnified and then adjust the focus point ultra-precisely on the touch screen or with the focus point selector.

Easy manual focus with clear peaking feature
When using manual focus, the peaking feature highlights the most sharply focused part of the image area in color. Blue has been added to the display peaking colors (in addition to red, yellow, and white) to improve the visibility of areas in focus during high-precision focusing for macro and portrait shooting.

Integrated 5-axis optical image stabilization
The integrated 5-axis optical image stabilization of our popular full-frame cameras has been adapted for use as a stabilization unit for this model's APS-C sensor. This system compensates for camera shake along five different axes (tilt and pan, horizontal and vertical axes, and rotation axis) to increase stability during handheld photo and video shooting. A high-precision gyro sensor provides an image stabilization effect equivalent to 5 steps19 faster shutter speed. The feature allows you to zoom in on distant subjects, take detailed close-ups, shoot night scenes and more - all with minimal blur from camera shake.

Innovative image processing
The 24.2-megapixel APS-C format Exmor CMOS sensor20 provides a wide sensitivity range and reduces image noise to a minimum. Combined with the latest-generation BIONZ X image processor, it produces ultra-sharp, high-resolution, aesthetically pleasing images with excellent texture reproduction.

Excellent image quality, low noise, and wide ISO range
Maximum ISO standard sensitivity has been increased to ISO 100-32,000 (with expansion to ISO 50-102,400 for stills). Improved imaging algorithms, rich detail technologies, and range-splitting noise reduction provide more realistic textures, greater detail in shadow areas, and more natural colors, skin tones, and plant renderings.

4K movie recording in XAVC S format with a high bitrate21
The Super 35 mm format and 4K movie recording with full pixel display without pixel binning enable approx. 2.4 times oversampling22, as large amounts of data are required for 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160). Downscaling of videos whose resolution corresponds to 6K provides a more lifelike display with more details. The video codec XAVC S21 with high bit rate (up to 100 Mbps at 4K 30p/24p) enables professional-quality images in a user-friendly format.

Precise AF tracking with real-time eye-detection AF for better movie shooting
Fast hybrid AF provides high speed, precision, and powerful tracking to meet the high autofocus demands of 4K movies. AF tracking sensitivity can be adjusted for stable focus or fast refocusing, depending on the subject. Touch tracking lets you track moving images by simply touching the LCD. Real-time eye-detection AF is now available for movies.

14-bit RAW output for rich color gradations
True 14-bit RAW images are made possible via a powerful LSI and BIONZ X image processor. To maintain smooth, natural color gradations, all processing is done at 16 bits. This means no dithering or processing errors make their way into the final 14-bit RAW image output. The latest high-speed front-end LSI 16-bit image processing

Creative movie options
The camera's interval shooting function24 allows continuous shooting at a set interval of 1 to 60 seconds, which can be used to create a time-lapse movie on a PC. Using the simple preview, you can see how the images look directly on the camera at different speeds. You can record slow motion (up to 5x) and fast motion (up to 60x) movies directly on the camera - without any subsequent editing25. Since it is also possible to record at frame rates of up to 120 frames per second in Full HD, high-quality slow-motion movies can also be created in post-production.

External microphone and audio input and headphone jack
External microphones can be connected via the microphone jack. In addition, you can use a line input via the XLR connectors with the separately available XLR adapter kit. This allows you to connect various high-quality microphones for professional-level audio recording. A headphone jack is also available to check the audio on movies while recording.

S-Gamut/S-Log recording23
S-Log recording23 give you the flexibility to create more expressive videos through color shaping during post-processing. The S-Log3 and S-Log2 gamma curves minimize overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows with their wide dynamic range (up to 1300% greater than Rec. 709). The S-Log3 gamma setting also provides an impressive 14-stop exposure latitude.

Sophisticated features for easy filming
The α6600 offers uncompressed HDMI output and recording control, time code (TC/UB), variable frame rates, and proxy recording, making it possible to implement professional-level videography workflows. In addition, a number of features are available to improve the accuracy of movie recording, such as the display of overlay marks or grid lines, zebra lines for metering, or ISO values for ISO Auto shooting.

Robust, durable construction even for demanding conditions
The low-vibration shutter mechanism is rated and tested for 200,000 releases27. The body, top, front and rear covers, and internal frame are made of lightweight yet ultra-tough magnesium alloy. Important buttons and dials are sealed. The housing components are made of a seamlessly bonded, dust- and moisture-resistant double-layer structure28.

High-capacity Z-battery for long shooting time
For longer shooting, the α6600 is equipped with the high-capacity NP-FZ100 battery previously introduced on many of our full-frame cameras26. However, the front dimensions are almost the same as previous models in the 6000 series. Not only do you benefit from about 2.2 times the total capacity of our standard battery, but also from improved grip ergonomics. The optional multi-battery adapter set for up to four NP-FZ100 batteries enables worry-free long-term video recording.

Improved ergonomic grip
The grip of the α6600 has been reinforced by 6.5 mm (compared to the previous model). Since the surface area has also been increased by 15%, it is easier to grip and hold. The built-in material has been optimized to provide a better feel, and the release button is now at a different angle to make it easier to use.

Prioritized AF area and ISO display limit display
A new feature displays only the focus area types you use frequently on the AF area setting screen. Another new feature on the ISO setting screen displays only frequently used ISO ranges. This allows you to adjust settings more efficiently during shooting. These functions can also be used when "Change Focus Area" is assigned to a custom button.

Better control of white balance settings
A preset white balance can now be locked and unlocked at any time, providing more consistent color tones with multiple light sources. Custom white balance settings have been simplified. You can now set an AWB priority for shooting in tungsten light: Atmosphere for warmer tones or White for purer whites.

Better usability with custom functions
A total of four custom buttons are available - one more than the previous model. Now 11 buttons (previously ten) can be assigned to one of 91 recording or playback functions. Frequently used functions can also be assigned to the control dial and the jog dial via the personal dial function. The personal menu function allows 30 menu functions to be flexibly assigned. With the display of user-defined settings, you always keep an overview. Helpful instructions for menu items can be accessed with just one touch on the menu screen.

1:1 aspect ratio for social media
In addition to 3:2 and 16:9 (width to height) aspect ratios, a 1:1 aspect ratio is now possible, which is commonly used in social media. This means you no longer need to manually crop your images before posting them to social media.

Seamless OLED viewfinder display
The high-contrast, high-resolution XGA OLED Tru-Finder provides excellent visibility, fine detail even in dark areas, accurate color reproduction, and seamless display at 60 or 120 frames per second. Standard or high quality can be selected for viewfinder and LC display.

180° tiltable LCD with versatile touch functions
The high-resolution, 3-inch, 921,000-pixel LCD can be tilted 180° up and 74° down to facilitate framing selection for self-portraits and vlogs. The LCD is intuitively easy to use with touchpad (to seamlessly move the focus point), touch focus (to lock the focus point), touch shutter (to release the shutter), and touch tracking (to activate real-time AF).

One-touch remote control, one-touch sharing, retrievable location information30
One-touch remote control turns your mobile device into a remote control with viewfinder. One-touch sharing lets you transfer photos and videos to your device for posting on social media. When your mobile device is connected via Bluetooth, you can tag your photos with where you took them30. (Mobile device features available through Sony's Imaging Edge Mobile app31.)
