  • Hoya UV + IP filter
  • allows only the spectrum of light visible to the eye to pass through the Lens
  • special precision multi-coating
  • exclusively for digital photography and digital video filming
  • sharper photos with more depth, as well as finer and more detailed color gradations

Sharp, detailed photos with crisp colors - the new filter effectively blocks high and low frequency rays and allows only the visible light spectrum to reach the sensor of digital photo and video cameras.

The new Hoya UV + IP filter is an optical masterpiece. This is because it is a very special lens filter that only allows the spectrum of light visible to the eye to pass through the Lens onto the sensor. High-frequency ultraviolet rays and low-frequency infrared rays are effectively kept out by the high-tech glass. They block both UV and infrared radiation not by absorption in the glass, as pure UV filters do, but with a special precision multi-coating through interference - a physical phenomenon caused by the wave nature of light.

The filters are used exclusively in digital photography and digital video filming, as their CCD and CMOS sensors are sensitive to both UV and IR radiation - far more so than to visible light. This can be clearly tested by pointing a diode from an IR remote control at the Lens of a camera. You can't see anything with the naked eye. Through the camera, however, you can see a pale blue to white glow. For this reason, an IR blocking filter is either placed behind the protective glass in front of the sensor or the protective glass is also designed as an IR blocking filter.

However, experience has shown that its blocking effect is often not sufficient for high IR exposure. Stronger IR radiation then usually leads to color distortions, loss of contrast and blurring due to the Lens not being corrected for the infrared range. For this reason, the use of this highly effective filter in front of the camera lens is recommended in critical situations. Its effect cannot be replaced in any way by digital image processing.

The Hoya filter is not only extremely flexible to use due to its versatile optical possibilities. Thanks to an external thread as well as an internal thread of the same size, it can also be used in combination with other filters on the Lens, which opens up a wide range of effects and options for the owner when photographing or filming. Alternatively, a standard lens cap for protection or a lens hood can be fitted to the external thread.

Another major advantage of this innovative filter is that it also reduces the negative effects of atmospheric haze, which occurs at high outside temperatures, much more effectively than a standard UV filter. For the user, this means sharper photos with more depth as well as finer and more detailed color gradations. The filter does not affect the colors of visible light and can therefore remain permanently on the Lens and thus also serve as mechanical front lens protection.
