The Hyperion Universal Zoom Mark IV Eyepiece with 1¼ inch and 2 inch receptacle
There is an old adage that nothing beats an eyepiece with a fixed focal length if you want the very highest image quality. But the Hyperion zoom eyepieces are in no way inferior to fixed focal length eyepieces and save a lot of lugging around, especially when using your telescope on the move.
The Mark IV Hyperion Zoom eyepiece is the perfect solution for anyone who travels a lot, as in combination with the Hyperion Barlow lens it combines an entire eyepiece case with focal lengths from 3.6 to 24mm in a single high-quality eyepiece! It lets you magnify continuously with a click-stop function at 8-, 12-, 16-, 20- and 24mm. Save yourself the trouble of changing eyepieces when you go to a planet and magnify up! The only difference to the fixed focal lengths is that the field of view also varies from 53 degrees at 24mm focal length to 68 degrees at 8mm. This eyepiece has been designed "in reverse" to most zoom eyepieces: its largest field and sharpest image is produced at the highest magnification. This benefits astronomical applications - but also nature observation.
Attention:
The Hyperion zoom eyepiece can only be used on spotting scopes without the Barlow lens!
The Hyperion Barlow lens
Hyperion Zoom Barlow lens - 2.25 x
The Baader Hyperion Zoom Barlow lens was specially designed for the Hyperion Zoom eyepieces. By adapting the Barlow lens, the normal focal length range of 8-24 mm of the zoom results in a focal length range of 3.6 to 10.5 mm with excellent imaging performance for high-resolution observation of the sun, moon, planets and double stars.
Together with the Universal Zoom Mark IV eyepiece, the Hyperion Barlow thus covers the wide focal length range from 3.6 to 24 mm!
Like all Baader in-house developments, the Hyperion Zoom Barlow is designed for the widest possible range of applications.
It can be simply and easily screwed into any Baader Planetarium Hyperion 8-24 mm zoom. The focus is fully maintained on the axis and in the field, whereby you can choose between the 1¼ inch or 2 inch connection dimension. The image on the right shows the ClickStop Zoom eyepiece together with the Hyperion Barlow, on the left with 1¼ inch and on the right with the 2 inch connection.
Using the supplied T-2 adapter, it can also be used with all accessories that use T-2 threads.
For example, it can be combined with an SLR camera (you need an optionally available T-adapter for the camera) or used with astronomical eyepieces using an optionally available eyepiece adapter.
