  • Round filter with subtle soft-focus effect
  • With plane-parallel glass pane with microlenses
  • Ideal for portraits and nudes as well as dreamy landscape shots
  • Made in Germany

The term "soft focus" falls short for this BASIC Soft Pro filter. The filter delivers sharp images that are gently overlaid with blur. Details such as eyelashes are not blurred, while skin imperfections are gently masked. Small microlenses are irregularly distributed on a plane-parallel glass plate.

They scatter the light and overlay the sharp core image with fragrant, diffuse fringes of light. This opens up deep shadows, while highlights themselves are barely blurred but create a shimmering aura in the darker surroundings. Professionals, even in Hollywood films, rely on this stable glass filter when it comes to perfect beauty shots. This effect cannot be achieved with image editing software (e.g. Gaussian blur). In addition to portrait photography, soft-focus filters are often used to great effect in landscape photography. They dampen high contrasts and soften the fringes of light in backlit areas. The images take on a soft and romantic character.

B+W BASIC SOFT PRO
The B+W BASIC Soft Pro soft focus provides sharp images that are gently overlaid with blur. This effect is achieved by irregularly distributed microlenses on a plane-parallel filter disk. The microlenses are coated onto a high-quality optical glass substrate using thin-film technology. They scatter the light and overlay the sharp core image with diffuse light fringes. This opens up deep shadows, while highlights themselves are barely blurred but create a shimmering aura in the darker surroundings.

B+W TIP
The focal length of the Lens should not be too short and the aperture value should not be set too small. If the focal length is too short and / or the aperture too small, there may be so much depth of field that parts of the surface structure of the B+W Soft-Pro are reproduced. It is recommended not to take pictures with a lens focal length of less than 24 mm for full format or 18 mm for APS and not to set the aperture value to less than 16.
